Prop Account Fees and Rebates: Reconcile the Original Asset

An account cost can be debited and partially credited later. Preserve both movements in their original asset before valuing them in a reporting currency. This avoids turning a partial rebate into a full refund or an assumed evaluation reset.

Keep movement identity beside the amount

Record each unique movement identifier, asset, signed amount and observation time. A later export may repeat the original debit. Repetition is not a second expense, and a description containing refund does not tell you whether the entire original fee was returned.

In a fictional ledger, movement F1 debits 8 USDT and R1 credits 3 USDT. The net cost is 5 USDT. If F1 appears in a second export, retain one movement and its provenance rather than summing another 8.

Value the retained amounts explicitly

For a Canadian reporting exercise, suppose the supplied valuation is 1.40 CAD per USDT. Net cost would be 7 CAD. This is a dated fictional valuation, not a current market quote, tax conversion or bank receipt. Different movement dates may require separate valuation records.

A rebate paid in another asset cannot simply be subtracted from USDT. Keep its quantity and the supplied conversion separate. If that conversion is missing, the original-asset subtotals can still be reported while the combined reporting result stays incomplete.

Do not infer the account consequence

HashHedge’s daily-loss guide describes fees and funding within its account calculation. A ledger credit alone does not establish a changed loss condition, new stage or challenge reset. Confirm the actual account record and applicable rule before assigning that meaning.
